X-TEL Launches Xi
Direct Connect for Operations Applications
LOMBARD, IL. – September
10, 2003 – X-TEL Communications, Inc., a leading
provider of engineering test systems and services for the wireless
industry, announced it has begun shipping its Xi Direct Connect
drive test system. X-TEL’s Direct Connect system fully utilizes
the USB capabilities of laptop and tablet PCs. Customers can now
connect one or more X-TEL USB interfaced test mobiles and a USB
GPS receiver to create a single or mult-phone data collection
system. This tool fully supports drive testing and in-building
collection across test mobiles and dedicated instrument grade
receivers.

Metrics collected with
Xi using the Direct Connect configuration are fully supported
by X-TEL’s MapInfo utilities and Rush Street. Data collected
by operations teams can be shared with engineering groups that
already use X-TEL systems. X-TEL’s Rush Street software
includes advanced analysis routines to pinpoint trouble spots
while the technicians and engineers are still in the field. This
eliminates the need for the user to return to a central office
and perform traditional post processing. “Network operators
are focusing on reducing costs while improving network quality.
Rush Street saves valuable time and increases productivity for
the teams in the field, enabling them to diagnose and make improvements
to the network in almost real time,” said Rahfaldt.
