The iDEN HCU is a member of X-TEL's Host Controller Platform. Standard on all iDEN Host Controllers, the X-136 Spectrum Scanner is one of the fastest scanning receivers available. Measurements taken by the scanner are recorded for every channel in the iDEN range, as fast as once per second. A large dynamic range, exceeding currently available scanner units, protects against misleading measurements due to receiver front-end overloading when in near field environments.

iDEN Scanning is accomplished by using one of two methods. The first is a high-speed spectrum scanner capable of sweeping through the iDEN frequency band rapidly and reporting RSSI levels in -dBm. The second method includes multiple iDEN terminals configured to monitor many frequencies simultaneously for RSSI and SQE levels. This method is extremely useful for frequency planning applications using automated planning tools.

IDEN Host Controller Units have full capabilities for real-time display options and post processing, including advanced routines for automated post-processing, cell site database integration, and data merging/reduction based on time and distance.
